Santa Catarina Palopó, Guatemala
Santa Catarina Palopó is the closest municipality to Panajachel on the shore of Lake Atitlán, just 8 kilometers away on paved road. In recent years, this small Kaqchikel town has become one of the most photographed in Guatemala thanks to its turquoise, blue, and green murals—the colors of the lake—that cover over 600 houses, stairs, and walls with patterns inspired by the municipality's traditional huipil.

- The town's murals: In 2020, local artists and external collaborators painted the entire municipality with Kaqchikel textile designs. The result is one of the most photographed streets in Central America and a benchmark for community urban art in Guatemala.

- Lake viewpoint: The boardwalk offers direct views of San Pedro Volcano and Atitlán Volcano with spectacular reflections at sunrise and sunset.
